Expanding portfolio, customized technological solutions in 2023 from Syngenta
At six locations, Syngenta presented its new generation crop protection innovations, its ever-expanding seed range, and its latest digital agricultural developments to more than a thousand farmers.
Last year, more than 419,000 hectares of Syngenta sunflower seeds were sown in Hungary, according to Kynetec data, which means that the company confidently maintains its position as the market leader. Based on estimates, in 2023 the plant’s sowing area will be larger than last year, around 800,000 hectares. Syngenta expands its uniquely wide range of hybrids with generative and vegetative type hybrids within segments, so that producers can choose the best performer among the characteristics of their field. The novelty of the linoleic acid CLP segment is the generative type SY Fergus, the vegetative type SY Michigan, while the high oleic acid CL segment has been expanded with the new hybrid SY Barilio. The Express®-tolerant HO segment was expanded with the generative type Sumerio and the more vegetative type NX12298 hybrids. All the new hybrids have the highest level, i.e. complete downy mildew resistance, explained Dr. Dóra Ácsné Szekeres. The seed marketing manager for oilseeds also talked about Syngenta’s pioneering 6-ton professional program, which focused on nitrogen supply in 2022. Despite the challenges of the year 2022, in the 6-ton program crop competition, nice results of well over 4 tons were achieved. The national first place achieved a yield of 5.2 t/ha with the Tutti hybrid.
