The spread of the coronavirus pandemic has slowed in Belgium, so commercial units that sell non-essential goods may reopen from Monday – Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo announced at a press conference at the National Defense Council on Friday.
But Croo said the opening hours of the stores are subject to strict conditions: only one person can shop at a time, no more than half an hour in the store, and sales staff must closely monitor compliance with hygiene and distance rules. The government has also allowed households to receive one guest and two guests living alone on Christmas Eve. The prime minister has asked residents not to violate this rule, otherwise “another catastrophic year is expected after Christmas.” (MTI)
