Twenty-four thousand hectares of wheat is in critical condition in Békés county
Winter wheat is in critical condition on about 24 thousand hectares in Békés county. This is 25 percent of the county’s sown area.
The crop is poorly developed, and because of the drought of March it was not capable to reach the branching phase, especially in the northern-Békés region – Barabás Béla, Secretary of the Agricultural Producers Association of Békés county has informed MTI.
On the less productive north-layered soils in the region of Bucsa, Körösladány and Szeghalom producers expect a “weaker-than-average year.” (MTI)
