Bird flu has reached Békés county again
The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the bird flu virus in a goose farm in Békés County and in captive birds in Komárom-Esztergom. The animal health authority has designated the protection and monitoring districts in the southern lowland county, and the herd is being killed.
At the farm in Békéscsaba, which holds 7,400 geese, the increase in mortality and nervous system symptoms drew the attention of the livestock keeper to the suspicion of the disease. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus. Animal health specialists immediately started to liquidate the affected herd. Furthermore, a 3 km radius protection zone and a 10 km radius observation zone were designated around the farm.
