Announcement: Wizz Air is buying 75 new aircraft
Wizz Air negotiated the purchase of 75 new A321neo aircraft with Airbus, the majority of the planes are expected to come into the airline’s possession in 2028-29, the company announced.
According to the announcement, the purchase of 75 new A321neos is another step towards achieving that Wizz Air – in accordance with previously announced plans – will triple the size of its fleet by the end of the decade and operate 500 aircraft.
József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, stated in the announcement that the airline’s ultra-low cost model and the market-leading Airbus A321neo aircraft create a strong foundation for Wizz Air’s growth in the next decade.
Wizz Air currently operates a fleet of 165 Airbus A320ceo, A321ceo, A320neo and A321neo aircraft with an average age of less than five years.
The discount airline WizzAir ended the 2021/2022 fiscal year, which ended in March this year, with a loss of 642.5 million euros, after a loss of 576 million euros the previous year, and its revenue more than doubled to 1.66 billion euros from 739 million euros the previous year.
