The renovation of Nyír Plaza has been completed

The complete interior renovation of Nyíregyháza’s defining shopping center, Nyír Plaza, was completed at the beginning of October. During the approximately one and a half year development, the owner-operator Indotek Group modernized the building’s cooling and heating system and lighting with environmentally and energy-conscious solutions – including a solar power plant – and renovated the interior spaces of the plaza, the food court and the restrooms. Thanks to the aesthetic and technical developments, the shopping center will continue to be a prime destination for brands and chains serving local customers with affordable prices and quality products.

Under the auspices of Indotek Group’s national mall renovation program, Nyír Plaza, one of the defining shopping centers in Nyíregyháza and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties, underwent a major renovation in 2024–2025. During the multi-stage development, the interior spaces and services of the 14,000 square meter mall, which also houses more than 50 stores and the city’s multiplex cinema, were renewed, and the building’s mechanical systems were modernized with energy-efficient solutions and solutions guaranteeing long-term operational sustainability.

In the first phase of the renovation, which began in 2024, a new, high-performance condensing boiler and modern liquid chillers were installed, as well as the air handling system serving the common areas was modernized with innovative control systems. On the roof of the building, after structural renovation and insulation, a solar power plant began operating, which contributes to the building’s energy supply and reduces its environmental impact. The interior renovation of the building began in the spring of 2025: the floor covering was replaced on more than 4,000 square meters, 2,500 square meters of walls were painted, while the interior image was refreshed with unique design wallpaper on 750 square meters.

The lighting upgrade was implemented with 700 new LED lights and unique LED decorative lights, which serve both energy efficiency and aesthetic purposes. The demolition of the food court’s previous podium system created a spacious, clean space, which is given a unique atmosphere by new furniture elements, decorative lighting and plant decorations.

The public toilets have also undergone a complete renovation with a new water and sewage system, automatic doors, infrared faucets and modern coverings.

During the renovation, Indotek Group collaborated with numerous businesses from Debrecen, Miskolc and Nyíregyháza, so the project not only renewed Nyír Plaza but also served to stimulate the local economy.

The renovated shopping center offers an attractive environment and modern business conditions for its existing and future tenants. Dr. Gábor Hegedüs pointed out that Nyír Plaza is already counting on the establishment of new domestic and international brands in the short term, which will not only expand the mall’s offering, but also strengthen the local economy with new jobs and tax revenues. “The renovation is both an infrastructural development and a long-term investment in the community of the city and its surrounding area,” he added.
