The Minister added that a total of 581 positive decisions were made by the National Chamber of Agriculture in the amount of 6 billion 531 million forints in compensation for the farmers affected by the Bászna Gabona case. The Hungarian State Treasury has already disbursed 6 billion 21 million forints, and the remaining amount should arrive in the accounts of the affected parties within days. Thanks to the government’s intervention, the affected farmers were able to get their money in one and a half months, which was significantly faster than if they had to assert their claim in the traditional liquidation procedure. István Nagy emphasized that the money needed for the spring works is available to the farmers, and the perpetrator can await the further stages of the criminal proceedings in prison. In his video post, the Minister of Agriculture stated: “Next week, I will turn to the government in order to settle the outstanding salaries due to the employees of Bászna Gabona Zrt. The bankruptcy has seriously affected not only the contractual partners, but also the employees. I will propose that the state liquidator, in his capacity as temporary property supervisor, initiate the settlement of the wage debt owed to the employees from the wage guarantee fund,” he added. The Minister also initiates that this process be completed in the shortest possible time. According to István Nagy, it is unacceptable that employees who are not responsible for any part in the fraudulent business are not paid their legitimate salaries, thereby endangering their daily livelihood.
