World Poultry Day: May 10th is a celebration of the poultry industry
On May 10, the poultry industry celebrates World Poultry Day on Hungarian initiative, the purpose of which is to focus attention on the actors of the poultry sector. Nowadays, poultry meat is the most produced and consumed type of meat, and with the growth of the world population, the role of the sector continues to grow.
The introduction of World Poultry Day at the international level was initiated by the Poultry Product Council (BTT), and the proposal was supported by the Association of European Poultry Processors and Traders (AVEC), the International Poultry Council (IPC) and the World Scientific Poultry Association (WPSA). The idea of World Day came up in 2010, and BTT organized the first domestic World Day professional events in 2014.
World Poultry Day provides an opportunity for the poultry product line, which plays a prominent role in feeding the world’s population, to draw attention to its role in nutrition, its current trends and future challenges. Poultry meat is currently the most produced and consumed type of meat, and it is no exaggeration to say that nowadays poultry meat and eggs together are the most important source of protein for mankind. With the growth of the world population, this role is further strengthened, as the sector is able to produce products of excellent quality and high nutritional value extremely efficiently, with a low environmental footprint and without religious prohibitions.
