Poultry Product Council: sell the eggs in one kilogram packages
The Rural Development Ministry (VM) told [origo] that they support the idea, that in the future, eggs to be sold in kilograms not in pieces. The Poultry Council initiated in late April that the government has to change the egg price regulation this way.
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, the step is necessary because the Hungarian egg producers are in trouble, because the smallest S labeled eggs are breaking down the price of the normal or larger sized eggs. The shops in addition, are trying to attract customers with S-eggs. According to the Ministry of Rural Development, this marketing trick is worrying, because the smallest eggs usually arrive from mostly other European Union member states, are unsaleable.
