Whatever happens with the economy at home, the games are invincible!
The latest research by Árukereső.hu examined the change in interest in toy-related searches in Hungary and the region, and the domestic numbers suggest an unshakable growth in the category.
The research highlights what many might have guessed: November is the month for toy purchases, because most people want to order their gifts in time for Christmas. In November 2023, interest jumped by 134% compared to the same period of the previous year, while in 2022 this figure was 138% compared to 2021. Moreover, the number of searches increased by 3.9% for the entire year, so the growth at the end of the year offset the more stagnant periods of spring and summer.
The growth was realized only here and in Bulgaria – in the latter it was spectacular, 27% compared to the period of the previous year – while in the other countries of the region we experienced a decline of varying degrees: in Slovakia by 1%, in the Czech Republic by 4%, in Romania by 6.8% , in Slovenia by 8.5%, while in Croatia the interest was significantly lower, by almost 20%, compared to the year 2022.
The most popular categories here are LEGO, board games, toy cars and other small vehicles, interactive toys and Playmobil-type toy dolls. In 2023, they made up 73% of the total interest, so there is a good chance that the Christmas trees were surrounded by them. The most popular were bouncy castles, which were searched for by almost three times as many people in 2023 as in 2022.
