Idea of a Barcode trolley is on the top
Consumers are more interested than ever in the details of the products they consume.
According to a Shopper Research by IGD 30% of shoppers would
be interested in using barcode scanners on trolleys. The second most popular
in-store technology among consumers, gaining interest from 28% of those
questioned, was found to be 'labels on packaging to prove that food has been
stored correctly throughout distribution'. Food safety concerns were also
forming the focus of interest in technologies in the home, with 30% of shoppers
expressing interest in 'food packaging that communicates when freshness dates
have expired'. 27% of consumers also wanted packaging which advised whether
they were using the correct storage temperature.
