Zsófia Bánhegyi is the marketing, communications and public relations director of HUN-REN
A strategically-minded, internationally recognized expert has joined the management of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network: the position of marketing, communication and public relations director of the organization is held by Zsófia Bánhegyi. With more than two decades of management experience in multinational and state-owned corporate environments, the expert is responsible for building integrated domestic and international marketing and communication activities in line with the strategic goals of the new HUN-REN, established on October 27, 2025, and for managing strategic-level public affairs relations. The expert won the European Marketer of the Year award in 2025.

Bánhegyi Zsófia
Zsófia Bánhegyi graduated from the Budapest University of Economics and the London School of Economics, and then continued her postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Law and Public Administration of ELTE. For the past 15 years, she has worked in the telecommunications and gambling industries – at Magyar Telekom Group and Szerencsejáték Zrt. – in leadership positions in marketing, communication and sales. She was the first person in Hungary to win the title of Most Successful Marketing Manager of the Year at two different companies. Taking an active role in professional associations, he was the vice president of the Hungarian PR Association until 2023, and has been the vice president of the Hungarian Marketing Association since 2024.
HUN-REN aims to become one of Europe’s leading research networks by 2030 and to validate the scientific excellence of the Hungarian research community in globally competitive innovation results. In her new position, Zsófia Bánhegyi’s key task will be to strengthen HUN-REN’s brand strategy, increase the domestic and international visibility of research results, and support technology transfer and innovation activities.
