Péter Benő Banai: the Hungarian economy is on a sustainable growth path
The Hungarian economy can set itself on a sustainable growth path in the coming years, said the State Secretary for Public Finance of the Ministry of Finance (PM) on Friday in the program Napi aktuális on Hír TV.
Péter Benő Banai recalled that since 2010, the focus of economic policy has primarily been on increasing the number of jobs, raising wages and establishing and maintaining a wide range of family benefits. Speaking about the results, he drew attention to the fact that they were able to maintain the number of one million new employees, real wages increased significantly with the exception of one year, and an extremely broad system of family benefits was built.
The State Secretary stated that they expect the performance of the Hungarian economy to be in positive territory this year, but in order to achieve the expansion before the coronavirus pandemic, the stability of the external environment is necessary, which is why it is important to end the war raging next door as soon as possible. In addition, everything must be done in Hungary to maintain economic growth, he added.
Wage increases will only be covered if there is economic growth, he emphasized.
Péter Benő Banai highlighted that from a budget perspective, it is important that expenditures are covered in a way that maintains the financial stability of the state and continuously reduces the public debt and the public deficit.
