Balaton Tourism Association: Lake Balaton did not close after August 20th
Lake Balaton did not close with the end of the summer season, after August 20th there are still many guests and plenty of programs – the Balaton Tourism Association wrote in a statement sent to MTI.
They wrote: summer services can still be enjoyed in the coming weeks, and depending on the weather, the later autumn months will not be lost either.
They indicated: for years, more and more service providers have been joining the four-season Balaton campaign and are open all year round. Hikers and cyclists have long stopped having to be convinced that the lake area is worth visiting from early spring to late autumn. Spring-kicking gastronomic festivals, and in winter, Advent fairs and cozy ice rinks await guests arriving here.
They quoted Tamás Fekete, the president of the association, who said: Lake Balaton had a good summer season in 2025 as well, and the number of guests and guest nights continue to show an upward trend.
He added: as long as the weather is good, the beaches will be full, and if all goes well, the number of annual guest nights in this region will exceed nine million this year as well.
According to the president of the association, in the coming years, price sensitivity, the quality of services, and the development of cycling and other active activities will be decisive in the competitiveness of the region.
Visitors are now spending their money more consciously, choosing where they go and what kind of experience they get for their money. This encourages local businesses to provide better, more personalized and more sustainable services – added Tamás Fekete.
The programs of the spring and autumn months, the gastronomic events, and the development of active tourism all show that the lake region is capable of operating as a four-season destination, which is also proven by the fact that the Open Balaton campaign is being organized for the 17th time this year – explained Tamás Fekete.
