Balaton Tourism Association: the Easter long weekend could bring a significant increase in traffic in the Balaton region
According to hotel reservation data, the four-day long weekend could bring a significant increase in tourism in the Balaton region, the Balaton Tourism Association told MTI on Friday.
They added that at the same time, those who visit the area for just one day and do not necessarily use accommodation, but visit several settlements around the lake, could represent a significant proportion of the increased tourist traffic.
The statement quotes Tamás Fekete, the president of the association, who says that although the emphasis is often on guests requiring a multi-day stay, the economic impact of “one-day tourists” is not negligible for local businesses and the region as a whole.
As they wrote, the Balaton region awaits visitors with numerous creative and spectacular Easter attractions this year as well.
For example, an imposing painted egg, two meters high and 105 centimeters wide, can be admired in Balatonboglár. In Tapolca, the trees of the park will be decorated with weatherproof eggs, creating a unique egg arbor, while the central element of the square will be a two-meter, approximately 100-kilogram embroidered egg depicting the resurrection.
Not far from Balatonvilágos, in Enying, Hungary’s largest embroidered Easter egg can be seen, which is more than three meters high and 228 centimeters in diameter, and a tunnel decorated with 3,761 real eggs is also part of the attraction.
In Balatonalmádi, more than 750 handmade eggs decorate the trees every year, supplemented by egg hunts and children’s programs. Bunny figures appear at many points around the lake, including Balatonvilágos and Balatonföldvár, creating an inviting spring atmosphere – they wrote.
