Tens of thousands of people will set off on a “mini-holiday” on the long weekend of October 23, which will noticeably boost tourism around Lake Balaton. Almost 1,500 service providers are waiting for guests in the region, which clearly shows that Lake Balaton is increasingly becoming a four-season tourist destination – the Balaton Tourism Association indicated in its survey released on Wednesday.

According to Tamás Fekete, president of the Balaton Tourism Association, it is no longer just worth coming to Lake Balaton in the summer months. “It can also be refreshing to sit down for a great lunch or ice cream somewhere after a light walk or hike, not to mention the wineries that are still open at this time, where it is worth tasting the new wine after the harvest.” – he said.

The more than 1,500 service providers open in the region provide significant employment and stability to the local economy. Active tourism is supported by initiatives such as BalatonBike365, which now offers 1,200 kilometers of bicycle paths – including new sections in eastern Balaton – for those looking to relax. In parallel, the region will host several significant programs starting Wednesday, which will further increase guest traffic and tourism spending – both in accommodation and in hospitality. Among these, the association mentioned the Süllő Festival to be held in Szigliget on Thursday and Friday, the Kálmán Imre Memorial Days held in Siófok from Wednesday to Sunday, and the one-week Őszvarázs program series in Balatonlelle, which is now taking place for the first time.
