Bird flu also appeared in Bács-Kiskun county, so the epidemic already affects six counties
In the past few days, the disease was identified in two poultry farms in Bács-Kiskun counties, which are epidemiologically independent from each other, in one flock of laying hens and one flock of mallard ducks. In addition, the laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the bird flu virus in a farm that kept mulard ducks and a fattening goose in the county of Hajdú-Bihar, which was already infected, and in a flock of laying hens in the county of Békés. The authority ordered the disposal of almost 220,000 poultry in the affected farms in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
After the outbreaks of the past few weeks, in Soltszentimre, Bács-Kiskun County, symptoms suggestive of bird flu were also experienced in a farm keeping laying hens, as well as in a herd of mallard ducks in Bugac. Nébih’s laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the bird flu virus in both farms. In the county of Hajdú-Bihar, which is already affected by the infection, the suspicion of bird flu arose due to the appearance of symptoms typical of the disease in a flock of Nyíradony mallard ducks, and the increased mortality in a mallard goose colony in Csökmő. The possible appearance of the disease was also inferred due to the increased mortality in a laying hen farm in Tótkomlós, also infected Békés county.
The laboratory test confirmed the presence of the virus in all cases
Around the farms affected by the bird flu outbreak, protective zones with a radius of 3 km and observation zones have been designated, and epidemiological investigations have begun. In addition, epidemic prevention and animal movement restrictions came into effect immediately.
The large number of new outbreaks is further evidence of the seriousness of the epidemic situation
Nébih repeatedly draws the attention of poultry farmers to pay extra attention to the safety of their animals and to strictly observe the epidemic prevention regulations! Of particular importance is the obligation to keep poultry indoors, as well as enhanced compliance with the basic epidemic prevention recommendations.
