NAV uncovered an illegal tobacco shop disguised as a baby item shop
An illegal tobacco shop disguised as a flea market was uncovered by the tax inspectors of the National Tax and Customs Office (NAV) in Nyírség.
In the statement sent to MTI on Thursday, it was written that the middle-aged man who owns the store was selling cigarettes without a Hungarian seal from under the counter.
For a long time, the cashiers have been watching the doorknobs of the doll shop customers. On top of that, it was suspicious that mainly men arrived and left the store a short time later without baby things – they added.
The financial inspectors confiscated 533 boxes of illegal cigarettes, worth more than HUF 1.2 million, and initiated proceedings for violation of the excise law and budget fraud. The 45-year-old offender must also be held accountable for violating the Trafficking Act and can expect a fine of several million, the announcement reads.
