Recycling saves 17 thousand hectares of forest in one year
In the last year, in the Member States of the European Union, 350 thousand tons, more than 13 billion beverage cartboards were selectively recovered; 33 pieces from 100 milk and soft drink beverage cardboards.
This packaging type is collected separately since 1992 in the old EU Member States and since 2004 in Hungary, because it is an excellent secondary material. All drinks carton consist of at least 75 percent of high-quality paper, which can be recycled in nearly 100 cardboard factories worldwide. In the EU countries, recycling saved 17 thousand hectares of forest last year – reports Világgazdaság Online.
