The new Eger wine competition evaluated the wines of the recent vintage
The Egri Csillag Egri Borvidéki New Wine Competition was held for the first time on January 23. The competition provided an opportunity to evaluate the wines made with the reductive process, from the fresh 2022 vintage.
The actors of the wine region considered it important to start the competition because, based on the trends of recent years, the consumption of rosé and white wines is constantly increasing. And the Egri wine region, as a growing area with exceptional characteristics, is particularly suitable for bottling high-quality wines in these wine categories thanks to its diverse selection of varieties and its cool climate.
At the new wine competition, a professional jury tasted and evaluated the named wines, all of which come from the latest, in this case, the 2022 vintage. The regional mustra, which precedes the traditional wine competition in time, thus enables local wineries to report their results to consumers and the industry earlier than usual.
