The soft drink manufacturers association keeps the restriction on energy drinks excessive

The Association of the Hungarian Soft Drink, Juice, Mineral Water Manufacturers believes that the law that limits the consumption of energy drinks by children is excessive – said Bikfalvi Istvánné, the secretary of the association to MTI on Friday.

According to her, the energy drinks contain natural and authorized substances in amounts that are not harmful to health, so the consumtion of energy drinks is not as dangerous as it is claimed.

The energy drinks are being consumed, because of their stimulant effects – she said, and admitted, that these products are not for children. She added that the energy drinks contain caffeine and taurine, as well as tea and coffee. The excessive consumption of energy drinks can be harmful, of which the customers must be warned – she stressed.

The government has not coordinated over the proposed changes with the Association of the Hungarian Soft Drink, Juice, Mineral Water Manufacturers yet – the organization's secretary indicated. (MTI)
