The Osaka World Expo is one of the world’s largest cultural, touristic and economic events, and at the same time an unparalleled diplomatic and economic development opportunity – stated Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy at the opening of the Hungarian Pavilion at the expo on Sunday.

He highlighted that the world expo is an extraordinary forum for nations, where they can present their culture, economic power, innovations and vision for the future.

Thus, the fact that Hungary will appear with a national pavilion this year alongside almost 160 states is of serious national economic significance, as more than 28 million visitors are expected during the nearly 6 months of the expo

– he added.

Márton Nagy stated that Hungary was among the first to receive the necessary construction permits for participation in the world expo, and the Hungarian Pavilion was among the first to be completed, in barely a year. According to him, the exceptional performance is due to the coordinated, high-level professional work of the Hungarian and Japanese construction contractors.

The first visit of the Japanese minister responsible for the expo took him to the Hungarian Pavilion on the opening day, which is addressed to the entire country and the pavilion. The Minister congratulated everyone who participated in its creation, both professionals and partner companies.

The Hungarian presence can also give a new impetus to tourism, which accounts for almost 13 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), which set a record last year: more than 18 million guests spent 44 million guest nights in our country, and the annual traffic of Budapest Airport exceeded 17.6 million.

All this indicates that the country is an attractive destination – he pointed out, adding: the aim of the pavilion is to arouse the desire to travel, the East Asian region is one of the most dynamically growing tourism sending markets for Hungary.
