The National Trade Association examines how retailers are preparing for the energy crisis
In the midst of the current serious energy crisis, the member companies of the National Trade Association (OKSZ) – all professional groups, such as food, drug stores, distributors of various industrial goods, such as clothing, toys, furniture, technical and DIY goods – examined how they can operate even more cost-effectively than before, since drastically increased energy prices are expected to rise even further in the future. The purpose of this is to curb the pace of price increases by minimizing operating costs, which is crucial from the point of view of customers.
According to OKSZ, it is important to point out that these energy-saving tools and methods do not affect the shopping experience, customers can still browse and choose comfortably in shops and department stores.
The purpose of the professional organization is to provide assistance to other commercial enterprises and various service providers operating in business premises by summarizing and presenting the methods already used and planned among its members. Some of the proposals are aimed at more economical use of existing devices, such as lighting, while others require minor or major modifications.
Although the financial possibilities of traders and service providers are limited, it is nevertheless advisable to consider improvements for energy saving. Although the coming months will present further challenges for commercial and service enterprises – for many the stake is to stay afloat – the use of energy-saving options can significantly ease their burdens, even by implementing a solution. The facilities of the stores also differ in terms of energy saving, so the solutions, developments, and investments can also be different, the association says in its announcement.
