The tradition of fruit vaccination carries generations of knowledge that is worth preserving and passing on. This is what the Hungarian Society of Environment and Rural Development and the Institute of Climate Policy call attention to the tree that matches the Hungarian Fruit Landscape Day, not others! At the initiative of the Hungarian Society of Environment and Rural Development and the MCC Institute of Climate Policy, the Ministry of Agriculture launched the Hungarian Fruit Landscape Day in 2024. According to the briefing Old Hungarian fruit varieties have been grown in Hungary for centuries and have adapted well to the microclimate of each landscape, so they are much more resistant to extreme weather and various diseases
The preservation of Hungarian varieties naturally contributes to sustainable agriculture and the improvement of food safety, they point out. Currently, about 80 state -recognized fruits are considered to be in Hungary. Some old varieties are widespread, others have been completely excluded from cultivation, and the state and volunteers will take part in their preservation, according to the release.
