Irrigation alleviates the risks of extreme weather
The importance of irrigation was discussed by the Minister of Agriculture at Kisújszállás on the occasion of the Tisza Valley Conference on Saturday.
Fazekas Sándor said that irrigation has a prominent role in the protection against extreme weather risks in Hungary.
For crop safety, watering is increasingly needed for yield fluctuations due to uneven distribution of precipitation, he said. Over the past hundred years, the precipitation and temperature distribution was favorable for 17 years, 32 was rainy, 23 dry, and 28 drought, he added. (MTI)
