The GVH examined the online hotel reservations market
The international online accommodation agencies generate competition in the market in Hungary, but it cannot be felt in case of the Hungarian-owned companies, so competition supervision proceedings may start against them – according to the summary of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH).
The report covering the 2010 -2015 period states that the online accommodation agencies connect the accommodations with the consumers, connect the supply with the demand. The are making the market transparent because it becomes comparable by them. Yet the possibility of infringements raises, because in Hungary there was no price competition between the intermediaries and the prices of the hotels were all the same at each channel. (MTI)
