Italian Sofidel to acquire Hakle
The shares and brands of German toilet tissue manufacturer Hakle Markenhaus GmbH, which became insolvent in September 2022 due to the energy crisis, could soon be owned by Italian family business Sofidel from Porcari, Province Lucca in Toscana.
Founded in 1966, the company, which produces sanitary and household wipes, will thus enable the insolvent Hakle GmbH to continue producing sanitary paper under the management of Volker Jung. According to the managing director’s statement, the production site in Düsseldorf-Reisholz is to be retained.
The future of the company will be determined by current and future research projects and technical developments in the product area.
Currently no significant changes in processes or employment are envisaged during a transitional period.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
