The difficulties of Italian apple exports could lead to a rapid recovery of European reserves
Logistical problems are hampering Italian apple exports, but rising input prices are not making the sector any easier. According to an analysis by the Italian Apple Growers Association (Assomela), there are about 50,000 truck drivers missing from the country, but the availability of refrigerated containers used in maritime transport is also inadequate. According to Assomela, this will not only make matters more difficult for Italian exporters, but may also lead to a faster depletion of European stocks.
