Smartphones will replace plastic cards
Debit card payment is slowly but steadily disappearing as new generation mobile phones use NFC technology to connect to card reader terminals, which means that safer and quicker payments can be made with smartphones than with debit cards. What is more, there is no need for separate loyalty cards as they can also be stored by the mobile phone, managing discounts, points and accounts. The technology has been available for 10 years but the recent Google Wallet concept can give it a boost.
