Consumer price inflation accelerated in April in OECD countries
In the member states of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), consumer price inflation accelerated to 3.3 percent in April from 2.4 percent year-on-year in March. In February, the indicator was still 1.7 percent.
In April, energy prices rose at the fastest rate since September 2008, after rising 7.4 percent in March from a year before.
In April, the rise in food prices slowed to 1.6 percent from 2.7 percent year-on-year in March.
In OECD countries, inflation excluding food and energy prices rose to 2.4 percent in April from 1.8 percent in March. (MTI)
