In the OECD, inflation slowed down in April
In April, the annual growth of consumer prices slowed down to an average of 7.4 percent in the countries belonging to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), from 7.7 percent in March.
According to data published on the website of the Paris-based organization, the rise in prices moderated in 27 of the 38 OECD member countries in April.
Energy price growth slowed for the tenth consecutive month in April, at 0.7 percent after March’s 1.3 percent on an annual basis. The increase in food prices also slowed down, falling for the fifth month in April, from 14 percent in March to 12.1 percent in April.
Core inflation excluding food and energy prices was 7.1 percent in April after 7.2 percent in March.
As in March, the average inflation was 5.4 percent in the G7 countries in April, while it decreased from 6.9 percent to 6.5 percent in the G20 countries.
