Annual inflation in the OECD slowed to 3.9 percent in November
The average annual increase in consumer prices in the member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) slowed to 3.9 percent in November, compared to 4.2 percent two months earlier, in September, the Paris-based organization said on its website.
The comparison is for September because this was the last month when the OECD had data for all countries. Due to the government shutdown, October US statistics were not available.
The OECD has 38 member countries. Compared to October, consumer prices in 37 countries remained unchanged in November, with prices stagnating in 17 countries, falling in 13, and rising in seven.
The highest inflation rate in November was recorded in Turkey, at 31.1 percent. Prices fell by 0.4 percent in Costa Rica and by 0.1 percent in Finland.
In OECD countries, food price inflation slowed to 4 percent from 5 percent in September. Meanwhile, the rise in energy prices accelerated to 3.5 percent from 3.1 percent in September.
So-called core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, slowed to 4 percent in November from 4.2 percent in September.
Inflation in the G7 countries slowed to 2.5 percent in November from 2.8 percent in September, and in the G20 it decreased from 3.8 percent to 3.6 percent.
