The MNB provides consumer protection advice for an intimate Christmas
This year, the MNB is creating a financial consumer protection advent calendar for the first time, giving 24 financial advices for 24 days, sharing tips on its social media platforms; with this, the central bank is launching this year’s campaign supporting responsible shopping, borrowing and digital security at Christmas and at the end of the year – the Magyar Nemzeti Bank announced on Wednesday.
“Credit is not a gift!” The goal of the articles, short films, and consulting programs of the financial consumer protection themed site is to avoid unnecessary debt.
In the second quarter of this year, the population spent almost 30 percent of bank card purchases, HUF 1.23 billion, online in various webshops. At the same time, the number of card abuses has increased significantly, which may increase further in the run-up to Christmas. Even in this period, cybercriminals count on our inattention, susceptibility, and ill-considered decisions.
