We will soon be able to control the products of several brands from the LG ThinQ smart home platform
LG Electronics (LG) will soon make available the first commercial implementation of the Home Connectivity Alliance’s HCA 1.0 specification, which enables the connection of various brands of appliances through the LG ThinQ™ smart platform. By the end of this year, users will be able to control devices from brands such as Samsung or Vestel through the LG ThinQ application, allowing them to create a convenient, fully connected smart home ecosystem.
LG is committed to enhancing the user experience, so it has teamed up with other brands to create compatibility between devices. The new solution will be available in the world’s main markets, including South Korea, the United States and Europe, and will initially cover the main household appliance product categories, such as washing machines, tumble dryers, and dishwashers, and will later be applied to other appliance types as well.
The wide acceptance of the HCA 1.0 specification on the product development side made it possible to monitor and control various brands of household appliances and air-conditioning solutions from a single mobile application. Users just need to register their compatible products in the ThinQ app and enjoy the convenience and freedom of one-stop device management. For example, if you have an LG washing machine and a Samsung dishwasher in your home, you no longer need to switch between apps from each manufacturer to set your preferred wash cycle and cleaning settings.
