LG’s anti-discoloration technology for outdoor digital displays is the first to receive UL certification
LG Electronics (LG) presented the so-called Anti-Discoloration™ technology. Certified by the respected standards and testing organization UL Solutions, the new technology helps prevent screen yellowing, a common problem with outdoor digital displays due to exposure to sunlight. The innovative technology simultaneously preserves image display quality and stabilizes performance, extending the lifespan of LG digital displays used in outdoor environments.
LG is the first company whose anti-discoloration technology for digital displays has received UL certification. LG developed a comprehensive test methodology and defect assessment criteria, and UL Solutions independently evaluated the product against these criteria. Prior to this, there were no internationally recognized standards or test methods for measuring the yellowing resistance of displays.
In recent years, the use of outdoor displays has become common in drive-thru restaurants, bus stops, schools, and stadiums, among others, but there is an increasing demand for them in other business areas as well. However, prolonged exposure to sunlight can turn these screens yellowish over time. With the help of LG’s newly introduced Anti-Discoloration™ technology, the display retains its original properties in the long term.
