Intersport Deutschland’s expansion plans: 100 new stores in the next year
Intersport Deutschland, Germany’s leading sports retail chain, has announced a large-scale expansion plan aimed at expanding its network of stores. According to the plans, 100 new stores would be opened next year, mainly in medium-sized cities, which would increase the number of stores to 500. This would be one of the biggest expansions in Intersport’s life since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
The ambitious expansion plan reflects Intersport Deutschland’s commitment to supporting the renaissance of brick-and-mortar stores. Capitalizing on people’s growing health and fitness awareness, Intersport’s expansion will allow it to further strengthen its position in the sportswear and accessories market.
According to Alexander von Preen, the company’s CEO, this step means a “renaissance of stationary retail”, fueled by people’s growing interest in exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Von Preen emphasizes that the sportswear market in Germany is showing significant growth and believes that Intersport could own a third of this market by 2030.
