Morrisons tests Instacart’s smart shopping cart
In early 2026 British supermarket chain Morrisons will begin testing smart shopping carts developed by Instacart that use AI in one of its stores.

Morrisons is the first among UK retailers to adopt Instacart’s AI-powered smart shopping cart

If the experiment is successful, the chain will roll out the new technology nationwide. By using the so-called Caper Cart shopping carts customers can scan products as they shop, track their total in real time and then simply complete the transaction at the checkout.
