Apple prices increase due to rising imports
Compared to the 550-600 thousand tons harvest of the previous years, last year, only 400 to 450 thousand tonnes were harvested.
Therefore, apple was imported from abroad (from Austria, Germany and Poland) to offset the shortfall, and this increased prices. Earlier apples were imported to Hungary only to broaden the supply, but this year, the security of supply and to satisfy demand resulted in large amounts of imports – reports szabadfold.hu.
