IKEA is recalling certain outdoor LED lighting chains and lamps in the LEDLJUS, SOMMARLÅNKE, STRÅLA, and SVARTRÅ product lines that have an incorrect plug.

IKEA requests that anyone who has purchased the affected LED outdoor string lights and lamps from the LEDLJUS, SOMMARLÅNKE, STRÅLA, and SVARTRÅ product ranges discontinue using the products and contact IKEA. Due to a manufacturing defect, the plug of these products does not comply with the relevant safety standards, posing a risk of electric shock. The affected products can be identified by the name of the LED power supply, the date stamp of the LED power supply, and the name of the plug (all details are provided below).

Why are these products unsafe to use?

Safety is a top priority for IKEA, which is why the company is recalling certain LED outdoor string lights and lamps from the LEDLJUS, SOMMARLÅNKE, STRÅLA, and SVARTRÅ product ranges. The plugs of these products do not comply with the relevant safety standards, posing a risk of electric shock.

IKEA products undergo risk assessments and thorough testing during their development to ensure they meet the applicable requirements and regulations in the markets where IKEA operates.

Despite this, IKEA has learned that a specific plug used in the above-listed products does not meet the safety standard for limiting water ingress due to a manufacturing defect. As a result, IKEA is recalling all affected outdoor LED string lights and lamps equipped with this plug. The affected products can be identified by the LED power supply name (ICPSH24-2-IL-1), the LED power supply date stamp (YYWW – see all affected date stamps in the list above), and the plug name (SYK-02F). Products with a different LED power supply, date stamp, or plug are not affected by this recall.

What should customers do?

Customers who own the affected products are asked to stop using them and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund. IKEA also encourages customers to spread the word about the recall, especially if they know that the recalled product has been recommended, loaned, or sold to someone else.

What remedy can customers expect?

The affected products can be returned to any IKEA store, where customers will receive a full refund. Proof of purchase, such as a receipt or invoice, is not required.
