The weather and the import affect the domestic peppers and tomato growers badly
Greenhouse tomato and pepper are grown on nearly five hundred thousand hectares in Hungary. This season started badly for the domestic producers.
This year's spring caused extraordinary difficulties for the greenhouse gardeners – was said at the event of Syngenta Kft. and Árpád Agrár Zrt. in Szentes. The long winter caused much larger heating and lighting costs. The adverse conditions were bad for the plants as well: poor quality, poorly bound crop. In addition to domestic producers are adversely affected by the cheap import of Mediterranean traders.
