The Hungarian Easter lamb prices are higher than in 2014
The price of a kilogramm of a Hungarian Easter lamb is about 15-20 euro cents higher than a year before, while the export shipments may reach the level of the previous year in the best case scenario – Bátor Árpád, president of the Sheep Product Council told MTI.
The sales of lambs are around 10 billion HUF a year. About 95 percent of the lambs are Italian exports, but target countries include Bosnia, Croatia, Lebanon, Austria, Germany, Japan and France as well.
The number of lambs to be exported each year is about 530-550 thousand. Hungary currently has 895 thousand ewes – the president of the Product Council added. (MTI)
