Sunflower is less popular this year

Sunflower seed drills are taking advantage of the favorable weather of the recent days. According to the information of the National Agricultural Association, farmers are intended to sow sunflower on 592 thousand hectares, while last year sunflower was harvested on 617 thousand hectares.

The average yield per hectare was 2,091 tons las tyear, and a total of 1.28 million tons was harvested. According to the informations of the National Agricultural Association the producer price of sunflower is 138-141 thousand HUF per tonne currently, while on 1 May 2012 it was 120-122 thousand HUF per tonne.
