This year’s Austrian tourism turnover may be 40 percent lower than before the crisis
Even the summer season could not save this year’s Austrian tourism. Annual turnover could be 40 percent lower than before the crisis, according to a forecast published by the Wifo Economic Research Institute in Vienna on Thursday.
After the winter tourist season from November 2020 to April 2021 was almost completely cut off due to disease control restrictions, Wifo (Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung) sees that the summer season will not be able to catch up and this year’s annual tourism turnover an could remain at around 40 percent less then in 2019.
