Can this year bring growth to the IT industry?
In 2023, the IT sector showed a decrease in orders compared to the growth of the previous year, however, according to domestic and international forecasts, it may start to grow this year – Bluebird, one of the leading companies in the domestic IT labor market, conducted a market overview. From January 1, 2024, a change took place in the company: from now on, the founder and CEO Balázs Réfi manages the international expansion, and his tasks are performed by Viktória Hradek, who already has a lot of experience in the sector.
The year 2021-2022 was a successful year for almost all companies that worked in the IT sector, but since July 2022 there has been a continuous decline in IT orders. However, expectations predict growth again by 2024, which globally could be as much as 5-7%. This is supported by the US presidential election, which is regularly accompanied by promises to stimulate the market, but also by the fact that the reduced IT workforce in recent years (which meant, for example, the downsizing of hundreds of thousands of IT developers in the USA) is likely to increase this year in line with economic events. Priority areas will probably be AI and Cyber Security. The latter will receive special importance in the financial sector due to the NIS2 directive (EU-wide cyber security legislation) and the DORA regulation (harmonizing and tightening the IT rules of the financial sector), which is good news for all companies working on banking developments.
