ibis & TRIBE Budapest Stadium Hotel among the world’s most sustainable hotels
Two of WING’s hotel developments, ibis & TRIBE Budapest Stadium and TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel, have been awarded BREEAM certification. In addition, the dual-branded Stadium Hotel is the first Hungarian hotel to achieve the highest level, the BREEAM In-Use “Outstanding” category. This makes the hotel one of only four hotels of its type in the world to have the highest level of sustainability certification.
International green certification, a world-class achievement
WING has also opened two TRIBE hotels in the past two years: the 332-room, three- and four-star ibis & TRIBE Budapest Stadium Hotel at Népliget, and the 167-room, four-star TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel connected to the airport, which has also received the Access4you certificate, proving its inclusivity and accessibility.
The ibis & TRIBE Budapest Stadium Hotel – a hotel development combining two WING brands – embodies design-focused, dynamic hospitality and sustainable operations at the same time: the BREEAM In-Use “Outstanding” rating is the highest rating an existing building can receive – a rarity worldwide.
The hotels’ rating was based on their outstanding energy efficiency solutions, efficient waste and water management, people-centered design and excellent accessibility. All this not only proves environmental responsibility, but also meets the expectations of EU directives and international companies, and green certification is now a fundamental requirement for the traveler of the future.
“WING’s hotel business has become a prominent player in Hungary: we have now delivered more than 1,000 hotel rooms, so we have complex know-how as a developer, investor and in the field of operation. Sustainability is a fundamental principle in all our developments – both from an economic and environmental perspective. This is now an industry expectation, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this, and we believe that sustainability and guest experience are not mutually exclusive,”
said Ernő Takács, Deputy CEO for Hotels and Commercial Projects at WING.
