The FM has supported the Mangalitsa breeders with several hundred million forints
The Ministry of Agriculture (FM) supported the Mangalitsa breeders with several hundred million HUF until 2014, from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development funds, and provided some 130 million HUF to preserve the Mangalitsa pig breed – the Minister of Agriculture told on Wednesday in Budapest at the anniversary ceremony of the National Association of Mangalitsa Breeders (MOE).
Fazekas Sándor, stressed that the tradition of mangalitsa breeding has become part of teh Hungarian identity, the Mangalitsa is already the part of the country's image. Therefore, the ministry – in addition to a number of measures – supports the Hungarian Mangalitsa breeders with the genetic breeding support of the protected indigenous and endangered farm animals.
