Annual inflation mitigated by food prices
This January the monthly average consumer price increase was 1.4 percent, but compared with January 2009 prices were up by 6.4 percent. In comparison to December 2009, food prices grew by 2.2 percent, with seasonal products’ prices – potato, fresh vegetables, fruits – going up by 13.7 percent; alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices augmented by 2.6 percent. Pork and sausage prices were down by 2.4 and 2.2 percent, respectively.
