Restaurateur of the year
Attila Radvánszky, the owner of Haxen Királyi Étterem won the ‘Restaurateur of the year’ title in 2009. Q: Were you expecting the prize? A: No, I was really surprised; the last time I was honoured with a prize was 20 years ago. Q: Why now? A: Our profession was hit hard by the last couple of years. Probably they rewarded the fact that Haxen kept its guests despite the recession. Q: How come that restaurateurs of the year are rarely appreciated by restaurant critics? A: Lajos Bíró is the only exception. In the past years several non-professional investors appeared in the business and some of them fight for a market share by speaking negatively of traditional Hungarian restaurants and cuisine. Q: What kind of cuisine do you prefer? A: Haxen’s cuisine is traditional and we use good base materials.
