The “professional of the year” awards for the previous year are handed over by Turizmus Kft. early in February. This prize was handed over for the 17th time this year, with the “Gastronomy expert of 2008” title going to Kálmán Kocsony, 49 year old chef of the government guest house in Balatonöszöd. He has been working in gastronomy since 1974. He has competed in a number of international competitions, winning a silver medal in Luxembourg in 2002. He was also the coach of the Kodolányi team at last year’s Olympics held in Erfurt. As vice chairman of MNGSZ, he tries to represent the interests of all cooks and help whoever comes to him regardless of his alliances.
