The Hero Dog of the Year Award – You can nominate the best working dogs for two more weeks
Service, therapy, assistance and rescue dogs can be nominated for the “Hero Dog of the Year” award until August 15. The purpose of the competition for working dogs is to present, promote and reward those dogs that help people every day with their selfless work. You can find detailed information on the designation of dogs performing heroic work on the hoskutya.hu website.
Working dogs are specially trained for specific tasks, most of their life is service, and their work often saves lives. Although they are present in everyday life, not many people know their true abilities, the diversity of their training, and the selfless work of the organizations that work with them. During the “Hero Dog of the Year” competition, which was announced for the first time in 2024 with the intention of creating a tradition, entrants can present in detail the highly capable dogs and the work done with them, the winner will be the furry hero who received the most votes.
Few people know that these exceptional people are present in every important, trying, crisis or ordinary moment of life. They find you, help you, guide you, warn you in advance, even heal you. In addition to the most well-known working dogs – guide dogs, search for ruins, and drug-detecting dogs – there are specially trained dogs that can predict epileptic seizures or even help their disabled owner get dressed. “They are real heroes – that’s why we dedicate this award to them every year!” – can be read on the initiative’s page. The purpose of the competition is therefore twofold: to recognize the essential work of dogs and to spread awareness, to draw attention to the dedicated work of these four-legged heroes and their training organizations.
